No single experience can erase the scars left by a childhood of poverty
or abuse. But summer camp can bring kids healing and hope in a unique,
life-changing way. Camps are memorable, fun and challenging. For a
week, or even a weekend, kids have a safe place where they feel loved
and cherished by caring volunteers. The memories they take with them
are the seeds of hope that will encourage them to seek Christ when life
is hard. And it is in Christ that true healing can be found.
In 1993, Royal Family Kids’ Camp Inc. approached Lighthouse with the
idea of a summer camp for abused and neglected foster children. That
first camp was a huge success with 35 kids and 25 volunteers.
Currently, we host five summer resident camps, reaching more than 275
at-risk children and teens. Over 250 dedicated volunteers make camp a
reality for these children each summer.
