Orangewood Children's Home, in the city of Orange, is the initial
intake residence for all Orange County children who have been removed
from their homes due to abuse or neglect. The home provides shelter
each year to approximately 2,700 children. Orangewood, which has bed
space for 236 children and teens, provides a safe refuge for periods
ranging from a few days to several months while the juvenile court
makes decisions concerning their welfare and future. The average stay
in Orangewood is 17 days. The children, ranging in age from birth
through 18 years, come from every economic, religious and ethnic group
in our community.
