Habitat for Humanity About Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-profit, Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. In response to God’s love, Habitat for Humanity creates partnerships between cities, organizations, churches, and low-income families to construct and sell affordable housing. Habitat also raises awareness of critical housing issues, motivated by the belief that everyone needs adequate housing as a foundation for a better life. Habitat homes are sold at cost, through a no-interest mortgage to very low-income families. What We Do: Habitat uses donated land and finds organizations to underwrite about 75% of the construction costs. Habitat designs the homes and screens, selects, and supports the future homeowner. Habitat raises funds for materials and construction costs and leads volunteers through the construction process. Future homeowners must work side-by-side with volunteers (called “sweat equity”) and go through home-ownership training. Ways To Get Involved: Donate materials to go in the homes or to sell in the  Habitat ReStore Donate funds or land  Experienced builders and unskilled volunteers are needed for construction Share your bilingual skills Attorneys, auditors, accountants, architects and planners are needed throughout the process
